Description
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in welding and fabrication, with experience in MIG Welding and the ability to read blueprints and schematics. This role requires some attention to detail, and a commitment to safety standards. The Welder will work on structural steel projects (Wide flange beams, structural angles, HSS square tube, round tube, plate steel etc). Work environment is indoors.
Responsibilities:
- Perform MIG welding on various materials including structural steel. (No aluminum or stainless)
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine project specifications.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as a mag drill and grinders.
- Conduct assembly of components according to specifications while ensuring compliance with any applicable Canadian structural steel Standards
- Measure and cut materials using a tape measure and basic math skills for accurate dimensions.
- Operate indoor overhead crane safely for material handling and rigging tasks.
- Maintain an organized work area while always adhering to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently within deadlines.
Qualifications:
- CWB Certified or FCAW certified
- Proven experience in fabrication and welding within a construction or manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Ability to operate overhead crane or willingness to learn.
- Familiarity with mechanical knowledge and machining processes is advantageous.
- Understanding of fabrication shop practices including safety regulations.
- Some Problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot fabrication issues effectively.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality workmanship.
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
